U.S. President Donald Trump has removed Anthony Scaramucci from his position as communications director just ten days after hiring him, the New York Times reports.

Three sources close the decision revealed this to the New York Times on Monday.

According to the report, the president’s new chief of staff, John F. Kelly, advised Mr. Trump to sack his communications director. Mr. Kelly was sworn in as chief of staff after the president ousted Reince Priebus from the position on Thursday.

Mr. Scaramucci’s removal came ten days after press secretary Sean Spicer resigned, citing his disapproval of Mr. Scaramucci’s appointment.

The New York Times reports that Mr. Scaramucci, a wealthy New York financier, had gone on a “crude verbal tirade” against other members of the Trump administration and refused to report to the chief of staff, insisting on reporting directly to Mr. Trump.

At the time of publication, it remains unclear whether Mr. Scaramucci will remain employed by the White House in another capacity.
