The Joint Venture Operators which includes LAGBUS and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) blame the increase on the current economic challenge facing the country. The increase according to the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Dayo Mobereola will take effect from March 1, 2017.
Transportation in a state of over 20 million residents to some is serious business as it plays crucial role to the development and growth of the state. Shortly after the announcement of a possible ban of yellow buses by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, LAMATA has announced plans to increase bus fare on all routes.
